Lee So Yeun  eared her BFA in Fine Art at the University of Suwon and then her MFA in Fine Art at the University of Fine Arts Münster (Die Kunstakademie Münster) in Münster. During her studies there, she was shortlisted for the 2004 Emprise Art Award by The NRW Forum Wirtschaft und Kultur (Forum NRW) Düsseldorf, and subsequently rose to recognition with her art practice and received the New Artist Prize from the Columbus Art Foundation in 2005. In 2006, she signed an exclusive contract with Galerie Conrads through which she presented in art venues throughout Germany, including at the City Museum of Münster, the Lippstadt Town Hall Gallery, and the Gelsenkirchen Art Museum. Lee has participated in numerous international art shows and fairs, including Art Cologne, Show Off Paris, ARCO Madrid, SCOPE Art Show, and PULSE Art Fair. Her solo exhibitions include the Johyun Gallery (2019, 2014, 2011 in Busan), Folkwang Museum (2014 in Essen), Gallery Terra Tokyo (2009), and Galerie Conrads (2009 and 2007 in Düsseldorf). Her group exhibitions include MMCA Cheongju (2019), Gyeonggi MoMA (2018), Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, Seoul (2017), Seoul Museum of Art (2015), Pohang Museum of Art (2015), and Seoul Arts Center (2012). Her works are in the collections of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Seoul, Korea), CB Collection (Tokyo, Japan), Achenbach Art Consulting (Düsseldorf, Germany), Columbus Art Foundation (Ravensburg, Germany), and T Vis T Comunicación (Madrid, Spain).
