Jung Kwang Ho is native to Daejeon, born in 1959. He has a B.F.A and an M.F.A from the College of Fine Art, Seoul National University. He currently is a professor of art at the Kongju National University College of Arts. Cheong began his solo exhibition in 1998 with two: Kumho Museum of Art in Seoul and Stedelijk Museum Zwolle in Holland. His practice was recognized in both Korea and abroad in Europe, with notable solo exhibitions including 2000 Sonje Museum of Contemporary Art (Gyeongju, 2000), Thomas Gallery (Munich, 2003), Galerie Lumen (Paris, 2006), and Canvas International Art (Amsterdam, 2007). Notable group exhibitions include City-net Asia (Seoul Museum of Art, 2003), Void in Korean Art (Leeum/Samsung Museum of Art, 2007), Transcendence: Modernity and Beyond in Korean Art (Singapore Art Museum, 2008), and Rest (Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, 2011). Cheong’s artistic practice is international, traveling and working in the U.S., Germany, and Switzerland. He continues to participate in major art fairs around the world, including Art Basel and the Amory Show. His works are in the collections of the Korean National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the Daejeon Museum of Art, Hallim Museum (current Daelim Museum), Art Sonje Center, and Ho-Am Art Museum.
1959년 대전에서 태어나 서울대학교 미술대학 조소과를 거쳐 동 대학원을 졸업했다.현재 국립 공주대학교 예술학과 교수로 재직 중이다. 1998년 금호미술관, 같은 해 네덜란드의 100년의 역사를 가진 스테데릭 뮤지엄에서 개인전을 가졌다. 2000년 아트선재미술관(경주), 2003년 갤러리 토마스(뮌헨,독일), 2006년 뤼멘 갤러리(파리, 프랑스), 2007년 캔버스 인터내셔널 아트 갤러리(암스테르담, 네덜란드) 등 국내 뿐 아니라 유럽에서도 개인전을 선보였다. 그룹전으로는 ‘시티 넷 아시아(2003, 서울시립미술관)’, ‘한국미술-여백의 발견(2007, 삼성미술관 리움)’, ‘한국미술에서의 모더니티와 그 너머(2008, 싱가포르 미술관)’, ‘쉼(2011, 경기도미술관)’, 등에 참여했다. 또한 아트바젤, 아모리쇼 등 국제 아트페어에도 참가했으며, 미국, 독일, 스위스 등을오가며 다양한 작업 활동을 하였다. 현재 국립현대미술관, 대전시립미술관, 한림미술관, 선재미술관, 호암미술관에 작품이 소장되어 있다.
